The ministry of Bethel Church is managed by a variety of committees.They are made up of church members, nominated and elected by the congregation as a whole, with each group responsible for a specific area of church life.

The following are the current standing committees:


Church Board, the governing body of the congregation. Its members include the Moderator, who leads the group, as well as six others elected by the congregation. The pastor, clerk, treasurer and financial administrator all assist the Board with its responsibilities:

  • strategic planning and program evaluation
  • financial matters, including meeting fiscal objectives, yearly budget, gifts and memorials, planned giving, stewardship and pledges, and the annual audit
  • personnel matters, including personnel policies, evaluation, contracts, and job descriptions
  • coordinating communication among committees and overseeing standing committees
  • assisting auxiliary groups

 Mission and Outreach, responsible for:

 Faith Development, responsible for:

  • coordinating church school for children 
  • youth groups
  • adult education
  • camping ministries

 Diaconate, responsible for:

  • worship and music direction
  • social activities and hospitality
  • evangelism
  • congregational care
  • Called to Care

 Facilities Management, responsible for:

  • building use, insurance, and furnishings
  • maintenance, equipment and grounds

 Nominating, responsible for:

  • recruiting members of the Church Board and other committees
  • presenting a slate for election by the congregation.

 Personnel, responsible for:

  • any personnel-related responsibilities of the Church Board
