A BIG THANKS

goes to Pat Kimball for years of service to the scrip program. Pat is now going to be free to hear the entire service, sing the last hymn, and hear the benediction. We honor her devotion
and conscientiousness!

Great Chili Cook-off

Bethel's first annual "GREAT CHILI COOK‐OFF" is scheduled to be a tasty addition to the Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct 13th . We are looking for chili cooks who would like to compete to be Bethel’s Chili Master Chef. Some of the chili entrants may be better suited for Hell’s Kitchen but this is not appropriate for a church event. The winner of this year’s cook‐off will receive a prize that identifies him or her as the best chili cook at Bethel and retains these bragging ights until next year’s \cook‐off.

HELP NEEDED; CHANGES COMING

You may have noticed that we have struggled this summer to fill the slots for lay reader, coffee maker, clean up, and usher. The online sign up just doesn't seem to be as EASY or
successful as we had hoped. So the Diaconate has determined that we will try to bridge this
gap. The slots that are blank will be filled in from the Time and Talent sheets. When that
assignment grid is complete the calendar will be sent out. As was the previous practice, it
will be your responsibility to trade with someone if you are unavailable on the date

This Sunday’s Adult Conversations

will be a discussion of the Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon’s EMO Voters' Guide to the
2012 Oregon Ballot Measures, led by Ester McGinnis.

The Bethel congregation was greatly saddened

to learn on Labor Day of the death of John Randall, father-in-law of Pastor David. Our thoughts and prayers are with David, Jeanne, Caleb, and Jacob.

Rev. Randall-Bodman is with the family in Pennsylvania for the memorial service this weekend, so we are grateful to the Rev. Jean Doane for being willing to step into the pulpit on short notice to lead our service on Sunday.

Confirmation Sunday and communion have been postponed until next week, Sunday
September 16.
