Congratulations and Thank You - Jean Doane
At the 31st General Synod of the United Church of Christ held earlier this month in Baltimore, Rev. Jean Doane was appointed for the second time to serve on the board of directors for the Common Global Ministries Board (CGMB), having previously served from 2001 to 2007. CGMB is a joint ministry between the United Church of Christ and the Disciples of Christ denominations. The news was shared with Jean by Rev. Jim Moos, Executive Minister, UCC Wider Church Ministries and Co-Executive, Global Ministries.
Global Ministries, a common witness of the Division of Overseas Ministries, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and Wider Church Ministries, United Church of Christ, is committed to a ministry of Critical Presence where we meet in a timely and appropriate manner God's people and creation at the point of deepest need: spiritually, physically, emotionally, and/or economically.
Jean’s appointment acknowledges and celebrates her long standing passion for global ministries in general, and her dedication to the human rights of the Palestinian people in particular. Jean has worked tirelessly traveling to countries in dire need of economic and spiritual support. She understands the value of expressing our Christian faith to people in distant lands – with struggles beyond what most of us can imagine. She has done an excellent job of educating us about the realities faced by others in 3rd world countries. And inspiring us to take action to support those the “least of my sisters and brothers” in distant lands.
Thank you Jean for lifting high the banner of Global Ministries and for representing Bethel at the national and international levels.
